A South Jordan man was arrested after being caught engaging in sexual activity with a 16 year old Saratoga Springs boy. Saratoga Springs Police asked UCSO to handle this investigation.

On Thursday, July 27, 2017, at about noon, Saratoga Springs Police responded to a 911 call after a man arrived home from work and discovered a stranger leaving his home. The man said the circumstances were unusual and he was worried about his 16 year old son who was inside his home. The stranger left the home by jumping from a second story balcony, getting in his car, and driving away. The father followed the man and was able to get a license plate number from the car. He also got a good look at the man as he left the home and as he was driving away at high speed. But because of the high speeds involved the father stopped and returned to his home.

When the father returned home he spoke to his 16 year old son and learned he met the stranger through a social media app. When Saratoga Springs Police arrived and the father gave them the information he gathered they learned that the man who left his home was a former police officer with Saratoga Springs Police Department who had recently retired. When they learned this they realized it would be best to have an outside agency investigate this case. They arranged to have the Utah County Sheriff's Office continue the investigation. Detectives met with the victim at his home. He told investigators that the suspect, Aaron David Rosen, age 46, of South Jordan, arranged to come to his home. The victim reported that Rosen began to engage in sexual activity with him. As that was happening the victim's father arrived home early from work. Rosen then left through a second floor balcony door and jumped to the ground. That is when the father followed Rosen. Both the father and the victim identified Rosen from a photo array, or lineup.

Detectives contacted Rosen and arranged to meet with him in Salt Lake County. He acknowledged his involvement with the victim but denied knowing he was a minor. After interviewing Rosen Detectives arrested him and booked him into the Utah County Jail. He was booked that night on one charge of Unlawful Sexual Activity With a Minor, a class A misdemeanor. He bailed out of jail about two hours later. Detectives are still actively investigating information in this case.
