A Deputy with the Utah County Sheriff's Office has been arrested on multiple child sex abuse related charges out of Maricopa County, Arizona. He is in custody pending extradition proceedings.
***UPDATE PRESS RELEASE*** January 9, 2018: Mesa Police Department has released additional information in the case of a Utah County Sheriff's Office Deputy arrested on child molestation charges in their jurisdiction, including PIO contact information.
PRESS RELEASE January 5, 2018: On this date the Utah County Sheriff's Office was contacted by law enforcement officials in Maricopa County, Arizona regarding a felony warrant for Gerald Salcido, age 63. Courts in Arizona have an open case against Salcido for charges including multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor and at least one charge of molestation of a child. All of these charges are felony charges. The Arizona court set a bail amount of $75,000.00. Salcido was previously employed with another police agency, and has been employed as a Deputy with the Utah County Sheriff's for 14 years. He is currently on unpaid administrative leave. The charges in Maricopa county stem from allegations before Salcido was employed with the Utah County Sheriff's Office. Orem Police assisted in this case and arrested Salcido and booked him into a jail outside of Utah County.
