A 65 year old Midvale man crashed and died at Point of the Mountain Flight Park after colliding with a man flying a para glider.
On October 2, 2010, at 10:39 AM, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a hang gliding accident at the Point of the Mountain Flight Park. Gordon Jack Boyce, age 65, Midvale, was flying a hang glider. Virgil Welch Davis, age 40, Salt Lake City, was flying a para glider. During the course of flying in the area Boyce and Davis collided, causing Boyce to crash into the hillside. Davis, a physician, was able to land and he and a witness rushed to assist Boyce. They initiated CPR but it was determined Boyce was deceased. Davis sustained relatively minor injuries and later went to the hospital on his own for treatment.
